Privacy Policy

BlockLift Ltd ("BlockLift", "we") builds the BlockLift app and runs blocklift.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the app and the website. We are the data controller. Company number NI743143, registered at 6 Ballyhenry Grove, Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, BT36 5BQ. Contact: hello@blocklift.app.

What we collect

  • Beta list (website). Your email address, when you join the beta, plus the browser's user-agent string for abuse prevention.
  • Account. Email address and an authentication identifier. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email those services share.
  • Profile and preferences. What you tell the app to build your plan: age, sex, bodyweight, training days, experience, goals, equipment, injuries and movements to avoid, sport.
  • Training data. Sessions, sets, reps, loads, notes, check-ins, personal records, and your messages to the coach.
  • Health details (optional, with your explicit consent). Injuries and movement limitations you tell us about. If you connect Apple Health or Health Connect, we read: sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate and wrist temperature, which are sent to BlockLift's servers and compared only with your own recent baseline to suggest how hard to train today; workouts you log in other apps (their type, date and duration, never BlockLift's own), so today's suggestion accounts for them; and your weight and height, to pre-fill your weigh-ins and profile. When you ask Coach about your recovery (for example, how your sleep has been), Coach also looks at the synced sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and other-app workouts for the period you ask about. You give this consent on a dedicated screen in the app the first time you add an injury or a limitation, or connect a health platform. Withdraw it any time in You › Privacy › Health data & Coach; withdrawing removes those details from BlockLift and turns health sync off. If you enable it, we write your completed workouts, their estimated calories burned and your weigh-ins back to those services.
  • Diagnostics. Crash reports and error events (via Sentry) that include device model, OS version, app version and a correlation identifier. No health data is included in diagnostics.
  • Usage analytics. Which screens you visit, which features you use and whether requests succeed (via PostHog, hosted in the EU), tied to your account identifier. Session recordings blank your password, health-app data, bodyweight, injuries, check-in notes and the messages you send to Coach; the screens you visit, your plan, exercise notes and training numbers are recorded. You can switch analytics off in the app under You → Privacy; diagnostics are not optional because we need them to keep the service working.

Why we use it

  • To run the service you asked for: building and adapting your training plan, logging, progress, and coaching. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To send your beta invite and beta updates. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw by emailing us.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • Health data is processed only with your explicit consent, which you give in the app and can revoke in the app or your device settings at any time.
  • Data from Apple Health and Health Connect is used only to provide the training features described above. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to decide creditworthiness, insurance or employment.

Coaching and AI

Coach uses large language models from Anthropic and Google to write plans, feedback and chat replies. We send them the profile and training context needed for the response: your goals, schedule, equipment, bodyweight, training history, your messages to Coach and, with your health consent, your injuries and limitations and a readiness level with its reasons. When you ask Coach about your recovery, we also send the synced sleep (including sleep stages), heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and other-app workouts for the period you asked about, as daily figures and averages; and if your health app supplied your weekly check-in's sleep rating, that rating reaches your weekly review. We do not use your data to train those models, and our contracts with those providers prohibit them from doing so.

We may review Coach conversations to improve Coach. Conversation text stays in our database and is never shared with analytics providers.

Feedback and reports

Feedback and reports you send go to the dev team. That includes a Coach reply you report (long-press it): we keep a copy of the Coach text you report, your reason, where in the app it appeared and your account, so the dev team can review it. They are deleted with your account.

Who we share it with

Only processors that run the service on our behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Railway (hosting), Anthropic and Google (coaching models), Sentry (diagnostics), PostHog (usage analytics), Resend (email delivery), and Apple and Google (sign-in, app distribution, health platforms). We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Where it is stored

Our infrastructure runs in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the UK we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the providers' standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Beta list emails: until the beta ends or you ask us to remove you.
  • Account and training data: while your account exists. Delete your account in the app (You › Your data › Delete account) and it is removed immediately; copies in backups expire within 30 days. See blocklift.app/delete-account.
  • Diagnostics: 30 days. Usage analytics: up to one year; session recordings 30 days.

Your rights

Export your workout history as a CSV any time from You › Your data. For a copy of everything else we hold, email hello@blocklift.app and we will send it within one month.

You can also ask us to correct your data, delete it, or restrict or object to how we use it. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

BlockLift is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the app or by email.
